Snack Art
You’ll need:
- A jumbo bag of pretzels (small handful/child)
- A big box of Cheerios (small handful/child)
- Napkin or paper towel (1/child)
Activity:
- Kids can make creative designs using pretzels and cheerios.
- Be sure the kids eat their designs, too.
Note: Kids could create stick men, flowers, trees, a race car, a sun, or write their initials!
Tall Tower Challenge
You’ll Need
- Empty beverage cans (5-10/child)
- A few boxes to store the cans
- Plastic plates
- (Opt.) Toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls
- (Opt.) Used plastic cups
Activity:
- We are going to use some recyclable items to build tall towers.
- Try to build the tallest tower by stacking levels of cans, with a paper plate in between each level.
- (Opt.) You can even add a few toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls to your tower.
- If the tower falls, you can re-stack the items.
The challenge: Who can build the tallest tower before the end of the snack station?
Another fun idea: Players must stack 12 or more plastic cups into a perfect triangle-shaped structure. Once that’s completed, the player must get the cups one-by-one back into a single stack.
Note: You may want to have kids work in groups or have them try it individually if you have enough supplies. Be sure to get the kids to pick up the items and place them back in the boxes before they move onto the next station.
Noodle n’ Straw Challenge
You’ll need:
- Straws (1/child)
- Dry rigatoni noodles (6-10/child)
- Small plastic cup
- Fun challenge:
- Give every child a straw and 6-10 rigatoni noodles.
- Have them try to pick up the noodles and drop them into a cup, without using their hands and only using the straw in their mouth.
Cool Coin Challenge
You’ll need:
- Coin (nickel or penny) (1/child)
- Used plastic cups
Note: Be sure to re-use these same supplies at each station.
Activity:
- Give each child a coin.
- Kids can place a cup on the floor and back up 3 steps.
Challenge: See how many times they can toss the coin in the cup. Tell them to cheer when they meet the challenge.
