Theme: Mary said “Yes” to God and became the Mother of Jesus. Mary is also our mother.

MARY’S YES CUPCAKES

Theme Connection:

These cupcakes will remind us to say YES to God, just like Mary did! The Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her she would have a baby boy named Jesus. Mary was obedient to God’s will, and said that she would do whatever God asked of her. It was the most courageous YES in all of history. Mary prays for us so that we can give our “yes” to God, too! As you are eating your cupcakes, I’m going to share a few fabulous facts about Mary. (See facts below)

You’ll need:

  • Cupcakes (1/child)
  • Blue and white icing
  • Plastic plates or napkins (1/child)
  • Small candies, M&Ms, chocolate chips, etc.
  • (Opt.) Birthday candles (1/child)

Prep:

  • Bake and spread icing on cupcakes.

Activity:

Share the theme connection and show a sample cupcake.

  1. Decorate your cupcake using M&Ms, chocolate chips, and sprinkles.
  2. Put a Y for YES or an M for Mary.

Leaders: Light the candles on the cupcakes. On the count of three, have everyone in the group shout “YES” and the kids can blow out their candle.
