St. Gabriel the Archangel

The Archangel Gabriel is known as the messenger angel because he’s the one who often delivered God’s messages to people in the Bible.

We remember St. Gabriel from the popular Bible story called the Annunciation, when he was sent to deliver a message to a young girl named Mary.

He said: “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.” He told her that she was going to have a baby and that the baby would be named Jesus. Mary’s baby would be the Son of God and the Savior of the World!

Mary was surprised and afraid, but she listened to the angel Gabriel and said YES to God’s plan. The name Gabriel means “the strength of God.”

We can ask St. Gabriel to pray for us when we need strength to share important messages about our faith.

What do you enjoy most about God’s creation? Answers will vary: little newborn babies, the sky, the sun, the moon, mountains, oceans, animals, etc.

When you stand in front of the mirror today, what are three things you can thank God for about yourself? Answers will vary: my smile, my curly hair, my blue eyes, my ears so I can hear so many wonderful sounds, my freckles, my nose, etc.

You are God’s masterpiece. What do you think that means? tGod is the Master Artist and you are his masterpiece, it means you are beautiful and wonderfully made. God made you in His image and likeness, so you could be like Him. Just like when you look in a mirror, you see a reflection. We are a reflection of God’s beauty and His love. You are His one-of-a-kind masterpiece; priceless and irreplaceable.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of life and for creating me as your masterpiece.  Help me to appreciate the gift of each new day and the wonderful blessings you give me! Amen.
