St. Francis Xavier
Francis Xavier was born into an educated family in the early 1500’s, and after being raised in the family castle, he was sent to university to continue his studies.
During that time, Francis became good friends with a man named Ignatius. They became the founders of “The Society of Jesus”, an order of priests known as the “Jesuits”. Francis became the first Jesuit missionary.
He embraced his adventurous calling and traveled often by boat to many parts of the world, including India and Japan.
Although he suffered through many hard times, Francis never stopped sharing his faith.
In his travels, he brought thousands of people closer to Jesus.
Francis died at the age of 46, shortly before going to do mission work in China. He was canonized on the same day as his friend, St. Ignatius of Loyola.
